SAHA: SAD RUUD'S GONE

Louis Saha was fundamental in forcing him out of the club, according to the Press, but the brilliant Frenchman has spoken of his wish for Ruud to have stayed.

Last season the proliic Dutchman was knocked out of the side by our favourite flying Frenchie, with Louis taking the crucial spot in the Carling Cup Final, but that doesn't mean there was any animosity between the two of them.

"When you lose a player capable of scoring 40 goals in one season, I don't think that giving him to Real Madrid is a good thing, considering we will face them at one point or another.

"It is true that his departure will certainly allow me to play a little bit more and I take Sir Alex Ferguson's trust as a compliment, but I have always done my best whether Ruud is there or not. Nothing has changed for me."

Saha has scored two goals in United's three league matches but he is not complacent about his position in the Old Trafford pecking order.

He added: "Things can go very fast, if I am not good enough someone else will take my place. If I am good I try to hold on to my status and work hard. Competition makes you progress, always."
