SAHA SURPRISED AT CHELSEA

The striker of Sunderland, Louis Saha, has said that he is pretty surprised by the fact that the owners of Chelsea decided to terminate Roberto De Matteo, the manager of the club.

After Chelsea’s defeat to Juventus in the Champions League match played couple of days back, De Matteo was terminated from his post. The fans of Chelsea and the players of other clubs are pretty surprised with the decision of the owners of Chelsea.
In the last season, Chelsea had won the Champions League under the guidance of De Matteo.

The Blues were off to a terrific start in this season as well, but, all of a sudden, their performance deteriorated in the last few matches. But, no one would have expected that De Matteo would be sacked.

Talking to the reporters ahead of Sunderland’s Premier League match against West Bromwich Albion, Saha said, “I am pretty surprised on the termination of Roberto De Matteo. He was a very successful manager for Chelsea and he deserved to be a given a bit more time before being terminated. It was a horrible decision by the owners of Chelsea.”

“You look at the record of Roberto De Matteo as the manager of Chelsea. It’s incredible. The manager who did so much for the team should have been treated a bit better than this.”

Not only Saha, some other players have also criticized this bizarre decision of the owners of Chelsea. The defender of Manchester United, Rio Ferdinand said, “What Chelsea has done is an absolute craziness. I just can’t believe it. How can you sack a manager who has won the Champions League for you a few months back? It is clearly not a sensible decision.”
After De Matteo’s termination, Rafa Benitez has been appointed as the manager of Chelsea for the ongoing season.

SUNDERLAND CRUISE THROUGH

Sunderland has defeated MK Dons in a Capital One Cup match at Stadium mk on Tuesday. Sunderland won the match by 2-0. Both the goals were scored in the second half of the match. With this victory, Sunderland has cruised into the fourth round of the Capital One Cup.

This victory is even more special because the Sunderland team was reduced to 10 players in the 32nd minute of the match when the captain of the team, Lee Cattermole, was shown the red card.

This was the seventh red card of the career of Cattermole. He has already been shown 69 yellow cards in his short career. He is only 24 years of age and to be shown red and yellow cards so often is not a good sign for a young player.

In the post match press conference, the manager of Sunderland Martin O’ Neill said, “Cattermole should improve his attitude on the field. He is only young and he has already been sent off the field on a number of occasions. It was frustrating to see that happening again and it really affects the team’s performance.”

“The referee did the right thing. He had no other choice. Cattermole is the captain of the team and he must show a mature attitude on the park.”

However, the performance of the Sunderland team didn’t get affected even after being reduced to 10 players. The team won the match with ease.

It was Craig Gardner who took Sunderland ahead in the match in the 54th minute with a brilliant free kick. It was a powerful, flat sot which flew past the Dons goalkeeper straight into the net.

James McClean made the score 2-0 in the 82nd minute with a low shot from the edge of the penalty box. Sunderland will now take on Wigan Athletic on 29th of September at the Stadium of Light.

MORE SUNDERLAND SIGNINGS

The Sunderland midfielder Craig Gardner has said that he expects the club to complete a few more signings before the end of the transfer window. The Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill has made it quite clear that he would like to bring in a few more players before the end of the transfer window. The club are extremely short on attacking options following the departure of Asamoah Gyan on a permanent basis and the departure of Nicklas Bendtner following the end of his loan spell. The fact that Sunderland did not have many options when it comes to attacking was clearly evident in the 0-0 draw with Arsenal on the opening day of the season.

Martin O’Neill may have brought in the former Manchester United and Tottenham striker Louis Saha, but he is still keen to add more strikers to the squad before the transfer window shuts on August 31. The 34-year-old Louis Saha made his debut for the club in the match against Arsenal, but Martin O’Neill is keen to bring in another player. Sunderland have been linked with a move for the Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Steven Fletcher, who is valued at around £ 15 million by his club. The striker has already handed a transfer request after Sunderland’s interest was confirmed.

“I’ve worked with the gaffer before and he’s not a genius for no reason. He’s not forced to buy players. He hasn’t won medals and been as successful as he is by rushing in and people telling him what to do. He decides what needs to be done, and that’s what makes him so good,” said Craig Gardner in response to the transfer activity of Martin O’Neill. Carlos Cuellar has been the only other addition to the club. The former Aston Villa man arrived on a free transfer.

SAHA BACKS BLANC

Former Tottenham and Everton striker Louis Saha has said that he is very much looking forward to the French national team retaining Laurent Blanc as the manager, according to the Tottenham news website, despite the fact that the contract of the former Bordeaux manager will run out after the completion of the Euro 2012.

Laurent Blanc has been able to steer France into the quarter finals of the Euro 2012. They are a team unrecognisable from the team of the last two major tournaments. Even though they suffered a defeat at the hands of Luis Suarez‘s Spain in the quarter-finals, Louis Saha has said that it would be tough to find the manager of the quality as Laurent Blanc.

The former Bordeaux manager has also been linked with the vacant Tottenham managerial post. Even though former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is the current favourite to get the job in the hands of Harry Redknapp, Laurent Blanc still remains a contender if the latest rumours are to be believed because the chairman Daniel Levy sees him as an ideal man to manage the club for the next five years. Chairman Daniel Levy fell out with Harry Redknapp over the transfer side of things, but he has a great rapport with Laurent Blanc, which could help seal the deal.

“He’s a top manager. He’ll always have interest [in him]. I can imagine him being in the Premier League because of his experience. I want him to stay in the job for France because he has been doing a terrific job so I wouldn’t like him to go to the Premier League yet. It was quite an achievement to qualify for a big game against Spain. It feels like a great achievement. The expectation was to play a better style of football after the World Cup in 2010,” said Saha.

SAHA WANTS SPURS STAY

Former Manchester United and Everton striker Louis Saha said that it wants to stay with Tottenham beyond the end of the season.

Tottenham signed Everton striker Louis Saha on a free transfer at the end of the January transfer window. However, he has signed only a six month deal with the club.

He scored on his debut for Tottenham, although he has not been able to produce much since due to injury. The striker was once recognised as one of the best in the world, which persuaded Manchester United to pay £ 12 million for his services. However, numerous injuries have taken the edge out of his game, but the Frenchman still believes he has a lot to offer for Tottenham.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham will be interested in running the deal given that they are unlikely to convert the loan deal for Emmanuel Adebayor into a permanent one. Further, striker Jermain Defoe has also been speaking to the press about the possibility of leaving Tottenham in the summer after getting very limited opportunities. It is thought that Tottenham are extremely impressed by the professionalism and goal scoring abilities of Louis Saha. It is possible that the Frenchman will be offered a one-year extension.

“We need to win against Fulham as that will give us our best chance of having Champions League football next season. Personally I will do my best to help the team achieve that – and after this is done I will have the time to then sit down and discuss my future. When I arrived I knew the situation and was fully concentrated on the six months ahead. But that is nearly over now so we will sit down and discuss things. I’m pretty confident I could find something,” said Louis Saha.

SIGNINGS WORRY SAHA

Everton striker Louis Saha said that the lack of signing at Everton is certainly worrying for him. Louis Saha has been doing pretty well after signing from Manchester United a few seasons ago.

Even though occasional injury problems mean that he is unlikely to play the whole 38 Premier League matches, Louis Saha has been holding up pretty well for his age. However, the striker says that the lack of signings at Everton is something that is pretty depressing at the moment. Saha has played for the likes of Fulham, Manchester United, and Everton in the Premier League.

After this long journey in the England’s top flight, Louis Saha says that Cristiano Ronaldo is probably the best player he has ever played with. He also says that he was extremely fortunate to play alongside Alan Shearer at Newcastle. This season has been pretty poor for Louis Saha in the four seasons he has spent at Goodison Park. He has made 12 appearances so far this season, but has managed to score only two goals. He has been affected by a number of injury problems this season, but he is hoping to get back onto the pitch soon.

“The situation is normal again. It is normal that there are little tensions. Maybe he (Toffees boss David Moyes) wanted to get a reaction from me. The important thing was that I got the explanation that I needed because I am playing again. The start to the season has been very complicated at the club. The financial problems meant we did not have a real recruitment campaign. Indirectly, that impacts on us,” he said. Louis Saha has said that the loss of Mikel Arteta to Arsenal in the summer transfer window was the most depressing thing for him this season.

GUEYE INSPIRED BY SAHA

Everton wonder-kid, Gueye has revealed that took up Louis Saha as an inspiration to develop himself as a player. Gueye, Everton’s 20-year-old new arrival has been training alongside his childhood hero since signing for the Toffees at the start of July.

Himself a left-footed forward, ex-Strasbourg man Gueye admitted that Saha was one of the French superstars he admired as an aspiring teenager.

He told evertontv. “I feel ready to be around and train alongside a big player and a big French household name like Louis Saha is; that’s really something.
