Chelsea have been going through one of the disastrous periods

Chelsea have been going through one of the disastrous periods in recent memory after having lost five league games already.

This record sees them near the bottom of the table and nowhere near enough to retain the league title that the team won last season. One of the reasons put forward has been the lack of form amongst key players like Diego Costa. At this stage last season, Costa was on course to becoming the league’s top scorer. This time around, he has scored less than five league goals. It puts a lot of pressure on the backup forwards Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy.

Falcao has come out in defence of Chelsea’s recent form. The Colombian forward came to Stamford Bridge on a season-long loan deal. Many were sceptical about his signing since he was a major flop at Manchester United only a few months ago, but those supporting Jose Mourinho felt that the Portuguese saw something within the 28-year-old that Van Gaal may have missed. It has proven to be the wrong conclusion, as Falcao has once again been disappointing. He has scored only one goal for the blues in several league outings, but he says that he will find his scoring touch soon.

“I’m OK. Every day I feel better. I’m feeling good, I was able to play 90 minutes in the last game (against Southampton) and that helps. If the results are not the best in Chelsea, we have the capacity to reverse the situation. It’s not a time for hiding. When you concede goals sometimes the other team do a good job but sometimes we make mistakes. We have to avoid this because every time we make a small mistake we are being punished,” said Falcao. There have been reports that the player could be allowed to return in January.
