Former Manchester United star Louis Saha has urged Anthony Martial to stay put with the Red Devils for the long-term in order to enhance their prospects of securing regular silverware. The France international appeared to face an uncertain future after being out of contention during the early stages of the season but he has managed to resort the concern over the past couple of months, where he has netted six goals across all competitions.
“If you don’t play well you have to remember a club will transfer you and fans will start to boo. But that is not the case of Anthony, he is a loved by the fans. He is loved by the manager I am sure. It’s an understanding, making a compromise in some ways, to make sure the player is happy and create a platform to win trophies again.”
Martial currently has just seven months remaining on his current deal with United and reports have recently indicated that he has already snubbed a contract offer on the table. Nonetheless, talks are still going on with the player’s representatives and United can at least assure his future for another season, should they trigger the extension clause available on his contract.
The former Monaco ace was only a second half substitute during the recent Premier League clash versus Southampton which ended with a 2-2 scoreline. He has gone without scoring for the past two league games after previously finding the scoresheet in five successive top-flight matches.
