Louis Saha compares Paul Pogba with Manchester United legend

Former Manchester United star Louis Saha has compared Paul Pogba with Paul Scholes in the aftermath of the Red Devils’ FA Cup triumph over Arsenal on Saturday. The France international has experienced an upheaval in league form since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge at the helm and Saha has now gone to compare the midfielder with one of the club’s greats.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Saha said: “Paul Scholes is a genius, he was a genius. He had the brain, the vision, the consistency of his passing was just brilliant. He won’t be having a go at me by saying that physically he was nowhere near, he was not fast or very strong, couldn’t really dribble past players and all that. But he was consistent. Pogba has everything. He’s got the height, he’s got the skills, he can score, he can pass as well, he can defend as well. He’s got the quality to actually be shining on every field.”

Pogba had gone through a mixed spell under former boss Jose Mourinho and there was one point where he could not command a role from the starting lineup. However, things have changed with the dismissal of the Portuguese and he has contributed five goals and four assists from the previous seven matches under Ole.

Despite the positives, the midfielder has yet to showcase the consistency through an extended period of time and it will be interesting to see whether he can exhibit the same during the remainder of the ongoing campaign. United are currently the in-form Premier League club after winning eight straight matches across all competitions and they have the opportunity to continue the run when they entertain Burnley in the midweek league game. United’s current form has put them within three points off Chelsea, who are currently holding the final Champions League qualification spot.
