Louis Saha says Everton must show more patience with Moise Kean

Former Everton star Louis Saha has said that the Toffees must show more patience with Moise Keane, given he was working behind the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala at Juventus. The Italy international made his breakthrough for the Bianconeri last term where he contributed seven goals from 18 league appearances and that was sufficient to earn him the move to Goodison Park.

In a report covered by Bwin, Saha said that Kean is a great signing for the Toffees, but he needs time to adapt to the Premier League. He added that the striker is not known for creating chances despite being a very physical striker and he needs contribution from the likes of Richarlison to get the best out of him.

He said: “Kean is a great signing for Everton but he is going to need time to adapt to the Premier League – I can’t see him hitting the ground running. At Juventus, he wasn’t a regular starter as he was competing with Ronaldo, [Mario] Mandzukic and [Paulo] Dybala, at Everton he is coming in as the number one striker, so he will need to prove himself. He is physically very strong but he isn’t a striker that will create his own chances. He will need to rely on the service from the likes of Richarlison and the other players around him.”

Kean has featured off the bench during the first two Premier League games of the season but he has yet to test the opposition goalkeeper. Nonetheless, there have been positive signs with the movement and hold-up play, and hopefully, he can find the groove to become a regular goalgetter for the Merseyside outfit.

Everton finished a credible eighth last season after a good run of form during the backend of the campaign. They are hoping to better the results this time around such that they can qualify for the Europa League at the least.
