Saha Warns Against Giggs Managerial Position

After recently stating that Manchester United could struggle to sign high profile players in the summer due to the lack of Champions League, former striker Louis Saha has stated that the club should think twice about appointing Ryan Giggs as the permanent manager. The Welshman, who was made as the player coach in the summer by former manager David Moyes, has been appointed on an interim basis till the successor is found. The first match for the Welshman was against Norwich and it was a resounding success, as United managed a 4-0 win.

Wayne Rooney scored the first two goals, which were followed by the two goals from substitute Juan Mata. After the match, Saha said that it was a great result for his former club, but the next appointment should not be made on the basis of just one match. Giggs will be up against a lot of high-profile managers like Louis van Gaal and Diego Simeone for the permanent position. Reports have emerged stating that United have already agreed a deal with van Gaal, who will be leaving the Dutch national team after the World Cup 2014.

Unlike some of the other managers, he’ll be free to takeover the club once the World Cup is over.

“I would love to see Giggs as United’s manager for many years but if I’m logical I would say it’s a big risk right now in terms of experience. You can see that in 10 months United might have to make another decision, get rid of him and say, ‘no he has a lack of experience’. It’s a different job and it’s a big task. It’s not like the situation where [Pep] Guardiola had a little experience of being with Barcelona’s second team. He was able to experience that, maybe it was a lesser level,” said Saha.
