Ighalo heaps praise on Martial’s form for Manchester United

Manchester United’s on-loan signing Odion Ighalo has heaped praise on the form displayed by Anthony Martial since his arrival at the club. The Frenchman has struggled for consistency at different stages of the campaign but he has proved his worth with 16 goals from 33 appearances in all competitions.

The record is not overly impressive for a striker but he was able to show some consistency before the coronavirus shutdown with four goals in the space of five starts. Speaking to the United podcast, Ighalo expressed his delight over the Frenchman’s form following his arrival and he is hopeful that the 24-year-old can sustain the same level of performances when the campaign resumes.

“Anthony, since I came, he’s been scoring goals and doing so well, fighting a lot. He is a great player, he has great technique. He can do anything with the ball and he’s been doing fantastically well. I just hope he keeps going and scoring more goals and we end the season very well. Watching it from outside it’s different. You only watch games every weekend and see how skilful he is. But I train with this guy every day, you understand? Every blessed day I train with him, and it’s incredible what he does in training, do you understand? He does it so easy, you know?,” he told.

United were on a 11-match unbeaten run before the shutdown and that has put them in a good position to qualify for the Champions League next term. The duo of Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba are scheduled to make their injury comebacks when the season recommences and that should further enhance the club’s performances.

Pogba has been absent for most of the season with an ankle problem but he has overcome the same after a successful surgery. Rashford, on the other hand, has been out of action for the past few months after sustaining a stress fracture in his back. Both players are expected to join first-team training with their teammates.
